The title Body&Botany represents my current series, which depicts different portraits blending together with an up-close image of a plant in its natural environment. At first glance, I do not want the audience to fully understand the photograph until the viewer reads a description or looks long and hard enough to notice that something else is there and the small details that make the piece as unique as it is. My work features self-portraits and sculptures from the Art Institute of Chicago, Graceland Cemetery, All-Saints, and Rosehill Cemetery, and botanical photographs from Garfield Park Conservatory. The next part of my art-making process consists of digitally combining and manipulating two photographs in order to make a mylar print to be processed in the darkroom.
